Waiting on the World to Change

Editor's Note: This is the third in a series of blogs written by 2020 homeowners Allison and Daniel as they allow everyone to experience the Habitat Rabun homeowner experience through their eyes.

I am writing this in quarantine...geez quarantine, what an unbelievable mess we are living in at the moment. This horrible virus currently plaguing our world, our country, and our community, means the building of our house is delayed. This is disheartening, but Daniel and I understand the importance of keeping the volunteers and our community safe. We would never want to put anyone at risk, and we know that once it is safe to work again, Habitat will build us a beautiful home, it will happen in time.

Although the decision to build has been delayed, progress is ongoing on our property for that step to be taken. The land has been graded, and the foundation is to be laid soon. Since our great state is under a shelter in place order, Daniel and I have stayed put in our apartment, for the most part, we have had to make a few trips to the grocery store, but that's it. Daniel is an essential worker, so he has to go into work, but once he's home, he's home. We are working on little projects here and there to keep ourselves busy.

We would never want to put anyone at risk, and we know that once it is safe to work again, Habitat will build us a beautiful home, it will happen in time.
