If you have a unused or underused car or boat sitting in your driveway, here's your chance to make a real difference with it! Habitat Rabun is actively seeking donations of used, but still running, cars or boats. We will take these cars or boats and turn them into Habitat homes--figuratively speaking, of course.
"As an educator involved with special needs students and adults, appropriate housing, encouraging independence has been a challenge for many of my students and their families. We now have the opportunity in Rabun County to provide a home for a deserving adult with physical challenges. Our goal is to build a safe home meeting ADA requirements and providing optimal independence," said Barbara Anderson, Events and Fundraiser Chair.
"This build will require additional funds and creativity! Rabun County, you can help make this happen. We are looking for items that can be auctioned off in July. Help us creatively find a tax deductible vintage or classic car, boat, or truck. Maybe you know of a new new high end item or opportunity for our auction. Let’s pull together and make this happen for a very deserving family."
These cars will be auctioned at our Annual Fundraiser, Hoedown, on July 20, to raise funds for our 2020 home. You will receive a tax donation for 2019 (if you donate by December 31, 2019) or 2020 (for donations in 2020). Even better is knowing that unused or underused asset will now provide a home for someone in your local community.
