We have family property in the Tiger area that we bought and donated to Habitat for the building of our home. The property is in the same neighborhood as my mother, father, and brother. My aunt and uncle will be our neighbors also. It is such a huge blessing to be able to live so close to family, I am a big family person, and there are no other people I would rather be around.
Our property is also closer to where Daniel works at the Rabun County Detention Center. He can shave a commute time from eight minutes to three, he is excited about that! My dad and Daniel have been working hard to get the land cleared. And a few family and friends have sprinkled in to help.
While the boys play in the dirt, the girls are busy too! We look through our Pinterest feeds, design books, and painstakingly searching through the internet for ADA home appliances, which is actually a hard task! Thank goodness my aunt has a kitchen setup with a farm sink so I could see how that would work for both Daniel and me.
We've done tons of thinking on our part, as has the Habitat building committee, about what will work for me. I have lived so long having to adapt to an able body world, I have had to figure it out. So figuring out what works for ME has been eye-opening.
